LAHORE: Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who represents Middlesex County, has decided to return home immediately for the series against West Indies. Pakistan's cricket captain Shaheen Afridi has announced he is quitting county cricket and returning home for national service, days after earning his first Test cap. 

The 20-year-old all-rounder said he wanted to "serve my country".

"It is my patriotic duty to play for Pakistan in all formats of the game," he said in a statement. Afridi had been playing for Hampshire since May. I'm not sure what is going on with Shaheen Afridi but I don't like it. He's quit county cricket and returned home. 

What's going on? Is he sick? Afridi isn't the type of guy to just up and leave without a good reason. He was probably homesick or something, but that doesn't explain why he just didn't say anything. The left-arm pacer is returning home from London soon, after which he will spend a few days with his family and then take part in training camp for the series against the West Indies.

He had previously played for Worcestershire between 2008 and 2010 before moving to Sussex. Afridi said that he would like to spend more time at home with his family and friends. He added that he wanted to focus on his studies and become a doctor. Afridi was born in Peshawar, Pakistan and moved to England when he was 12 years old. 

He started playing cricket at the age of 14 and represented Worcestershire in 2007. He has played 8 Tests and 29 One Day Internationals for Pakistan.
