Brendon McCullum Selected as a Head Coach of England Cricket Team

LONDON: Former New Zealand cricket captain Brendon McCullum has been named the head coach of the England Test team.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed the appointment of former Kiwi cricketer Brendon McCullum as the Test coach of the England cricket team and expressed hope that McCullum's coaching would take the English team to new heights of success and also the atmosphere of the dressing room. Will be happy. Former Kiwi captain McCullum said: "I am happy to have the opportunity to play a positive role in the setup of Test cricket in England and to give the team more success, but I am well aware of the major challenges facing the team."

The former Kiwi captain will arrive in the UK later this month while he is currently coaching the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

 It should be noted that Kiwi cricketers have coached the T.Knight Riders for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League title. Representing the Kiwis, McCullum played 101 Test matches and captained the New Zealand cricket team from 2012 to 2016. Earlier, Gary Kirsten and Paul Collingwood were rumored to be coaching the England cricket team. It may be recalled that Chris Silverwood had resigned from the post after the worst defeat of England in the Ashes series in February this year, after which Paul Collingwood was appointed as the caretaker coach.

1. Brendon McCullum was selected as a head coach of the England cricket team. He has been appointed as the first ever New Zealand born head coach of the English national side. This is a big step forward for him and his family who have been living in England since he was three years old.

 2. Brendon McCullum is currently playing for the Auckland Aces in the Big Bash League. He is a right-handed batsman and a left-arm fast bowler. His batting style is aggressive and he often plays shots that are not considered orthodox. He is known for his ability to hit boundaries and sixes. He has played for the New Zealand cricket team since 2004.

 3. Brendon McCullum's father, John, was a cricketer who represented New Zealand at international level. Brendon McCullum himself has played for New Zealand from 2003 to 2005. In 2007, he captained New Zealand against Australia in the first test match after the retirement of Stephen Fleming. He led them to victory.

 4. Brendon McCullum has won many awards including being named the ICC Cricketer of the Year in 2010. He was also awarded the Sir Richard Hadley Medal in 2009.

 5. Brendon McCullum married Holly Bridgett in 2008. They have two children together.

 6. Brendon McCullum grew up in Hamilton where he attended St Paul's College. He went on to play for Waikato under 19s and then for Central Districts in the State Championship. He scored 1,000 runs in his debut season for Central Districts.

Former New Zealand cricket captain Brendon McCullum has been named the head coach of the England Test team.
