Pitch Upgradation: Possibilities of Pak-West Indies matches in Karachi
KARACHI: Work on 13 pitches at the National Stadium in Karachi has slowed down due to the ongoing upgrade of pitches in 40 grounds across the country under the auspices of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to correspondent Express News, on the direction of PCB chairman Rameez Raja, the possibility of shifting ODI series against West Indies to Karachi has been ruled out due to upgrading of pitches. Repairs and upgrades of pitches have been started at more than 40 selected grounds across Pakistan before the start of the new domestic cricket season with the best facilities being provided to the players on Grass Road under the special instructions of Chairman Rameez Raja.
The construction of 13 pitches has also started at the National Stadium in Karachi for the preparation of standard pitches at the domestic level for better preparation of international competitions. The Nandipur stadium used for the construction of the wickets has arrived. ۔On the other hand, Australian soil is also expected to reach Karachi in the next few weeks. After customs clearance, imported soil will be poured on Wicket No. 3 while new soil researched in Wicket No. 4 will be used.
Agha Zahid, an experienced chief curator of the PCB, arrived in Karachi from Lahore to inspect the preparations for the pitches and give necessary instructions to those responsible. Sources said that timely preparation of these pitches is not possible, after which Karachi has been dropped for hosting a possible alternate ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies. ODI matches between the two countries are 8, 10 and 12. June in Rawalpindi, but due to the political situation, the PCB is considering an alternative location.

The PCB has expressed its desire to upgrade the Pakistan-West Indies cricket series scheduled for this year from a Twenty20 International tournament to a full bilateral series. This decision has been prompted by the resurgence of international cricket in Pakistan, with the successful hosting of the Zimbabwean team in May 2016. The PCB is also keen to revive bilateral series with other cricket-playing nations, in an effort to bring international cricket back to the country. The Chairman of the PCB, Mr. Ramiz Raja, has voiced
Pakistan cricket board (PCB) chairman has said that he is hopeful of upgrade international cricket status of Pakistan and thus bring back West Indies for a full series in Karachi. This development follows after successful hosting of Sri Lanka's team in Lahore. Chairman has been quoted as saying, "We have successfully hosted the Sri Lankan team and I am hopeful that we can upgrade the international cricket status of Pakistan by bringing back the West indies for a full series".

This comes just three days after former players revealed to their fans about having played against New Zealand while being picked up from home side SCG Oval at Wankhede Stadium only two months back. The incident happened shortly after PCB lost its bid last year under ICC rules which meant they were unable receive any bowlers when it came time towards World Twenty20s event scheduled later this month in India. But soon enough someone finally noticed an opportunity where one newbie player was given priority over another who had actually missed out on playing due some injury problems - yet again!

The PCB announced this move when it scheduled meeting between CEO & ICC president N Srinivasan on Tuesday evening to implement all steps necessary including enhancement of FTP ranking system etc. Under BCCI rule-book there are few instances where you see three teams play each other from one country but they did not occur due its importance at an age before IPL was launched because only England dominated The Indian Premier League with 11 India vs 10 Britain matches per year. Only now does World Cup 2012 draw national attention like never seen earlier till today although Cricket Alliance will put up more money than ever against Powerplay which also plays five games within 12 days' time duration.
Pitch Upgradation: Possibilities of Pak-West Indies matches in Karachi, Pakistan
From January 21 until February 8 the team would play two match series and from March 11 onward will stay as long term members. In its first run back to home soil it had achieved an attendance record with 4,098 on that day (which was later revised by organisers). On Thursday night they decided for a second time that this may be their last trip after which most of them could simply leave through another gate or bypass city limits when heading southwards into town like many earlier days did. Thus almost entirely without fanfare only three players made the journey so far.
Pitch Upgradation: Possibilities of Pak-West Indies matches in Karachi,
I have mentioned the "possibility" before on my blog about how Pakistan has a chance to make it out of their group stage at this event. The main reason for me mentioning that possibility is because I think there are other factors which can play into its favor such as better preparation against Bangladesh and maybe even playing two home series around those states (that would be more conducive).
A win over them might also help ease the load from everyone concerned regarding getting ready for some major games down south or possibly sending Dwayne Bravo back across the ocean; we'll see what happens between now & June 29th with regards both camps being schedule
