Chittagong: Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to score 5,000 Test runs in a series against Sri Lanka.
Mushfiqur Rahim made his Test debut in 2005, five years after Bangladesh got Test status. He represented Bangladesh in 81 Test matches and scored runs at an average of 36.30.
The wicketkeeper-batsman is also the first Bangladeshi cricketer to score a double century in a Test, having played a 200-run innings against Sri Lanka in Galle in 2013. Mushfiqur Rahim made his Test debut in 2005, five years after Bangladesh was granted Test status, reports. 1. Mushfiqur Rahman was born on 20th May, 1987 at Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has been playing cricket since he was four years old. At that time, he started his career as a wicket-keeper. After some years of experience, he moved to opening batsman position where he played for several different teams. He scored his first century against Sri Lanka in 2012 and became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to score five thousand runs in test cricket.
2. In 2013, Mushfiqur joined the Bangladesh national team and he has appeared in many international matches including ICC World Cup 2015 and the Asia cup 2014. His performance in these two tournaments helped him to become the first Bangladeshi to score five thousand runs and 100 wickets in test match.
3. Mushfiqur completed his schooling from Dhaka College and earned BSc degree in Computer Science and Engineering from North South University. He is married and has three children. He works as a software engineer in Microsoft Corporation.
Mushfiqur Rahim Became the First Bangladeshi Cricketer to Score 5,000 Test Runs (1871 - 1977) in his first year with Australia (1930-32), hitting at an average of 26.75 and scoring over 300 runs against England.
