CWC23: Pakistan Lost in the 2nd Warm-Up Match against Australia

World Cup: Pakistan lost in the second warm-up match as well


Hyderabad Deccan: Pakistan cricket team lost their second warm-up match in the ICC World Cup.

In the match played at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium, Australia defeated Pakistan by 14 runs. Batting first, Australia had given Pakistan a target of 352 runs to win, in response to which the national team could only score 337 runs in 47.4 overs. In the first warm-up match, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by five wickets.

Pakistan's opening pair failed again in the match against Australia. Fakhar Zaman scored 22 runs and Imamul Haq returned to the pavilion with 16 runs. Abdullah Shafiq could only score 12 and Shadab Khan 9 runs.

Four wickets fell for Pakistan's total score of 83, after which Iftikhar Ahmed and Babar Azam supported the team.

Iftikhar Ahmed returned to the pavilion after scoring 83 runs while Babar Azam was retired after scoring 90 runs. Muhammad Nawaz scored a half-century, apart from which no other Pakistani player could score remarkable runs.

 




Australia's Marnus Lebuschagne took 3, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh took 2 and 2, while Glenn Maxwell and Sean Abbott took one wicket each.

Earlier, Australia scored 351 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Opener David Warner and Mitchell Marsh provided a start of 83 runs, but Warner lost the wicket after scoring 48 runs while Mitchell Marsh was dismissed after scoring 31 runs. Among the other players, Steve Smith 27, Alex Carey 11 and Marins Lebuschagne scored 40 runs.

Glenn Maxwell showed aggressive batting with 77 off 71 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 4 fours while Josh Ingles played an innings of 48 runs off 30 balls.

 

On behalf of Pakistan, Osama Mir took 2 wickets while Muhammad Wasim Jr., Shadab Khan, Muhammad Nawaz and Haris Rauf took one wicket each.

Australian captain Pete Cummins, who won the toss and elected to bat, said he would try to give all the players in the squad a chance to play.

Shadab Khan was entrusted with the captaincy for the match against the Kangaroos. On the occasion of the toss, captain Shadab Khan said that the effort will be to make a brilliant comeback in the match against Australia and give the best performance in all fields.

In the second warm-up match, captain Babar Azam came to bat but was not available for fielding. Similarly, Mohammad Haris was given a chance in place of Mohammad Rizwan.

Captain, Shadab Khan, Abdullah Shafiq, Babar Azam, Imamul Haq, Fakhar Zaman, Muhammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel, Salman Ali Agha, Muhammad Wasim, Jr., Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Iftikhar Ahmed and Muhammad Nawaz are included.
