Heat & Expected Rains, Arrival of Australian Expert in Pakistan & Drop-in Pitches Plan Delayed

Heat & Expected Rains, Arrival of Australian Expert in Pakistan & Drop-in Pitches Plan Delayed

Curator Adelaide Oval, pitch consultant PCB Damien Ho will come to Pakistan for one month in June.

Lahore: The project of drop-in pitches in Pakistan has been further delayed. Damen, the Adelaide Oval's curator and PCB's pitch consultant, who was due to visit Pakistan this month, will return later this month. The decision to install drop-in pitches in Karachi and Lahore will be taken after their report. According to Jang newspaper reports, the PCB says that Damien Ho had to come to Pakistan in the first two phases. As the country is currently experiencing hot and dry weather, he will be visiting Pakistan for a month in June. Rains are also expected in the country next month, so they will review the maintenance of drop-in pitches during the rains and report to the PCB. Cricket Board Chief Ramiz Raja has directed to prepare Australian clay pitch at National Stadium, Karachi and Gaddafi Stadium.

A PCB spokesman said that one by one pitches would be made from Australian soil in the stadiums of Karachi and Lahore.

The soil imported from Australia will also reach Pakistan next month. The Australian curators will develop both pitches under their supervision and Drop will prepare a review report on these pitches. He will acquaint Pakistani curators with the latest technology in pitch preparation. It may be recalled that the PCB has announced to import two pitches from Australia at a cost of Rupees 37 crore through sponsorship. One pitch will be set up at New Nazimabad and the other at Gaddafi Stadium. According to Board Chairman Rameez Raja, the introduction of these pitches will provide an opportunity for Pakistani players to play on Australian quality pitches. Drop-in pitches are made outside the grounds and are commonly used in grounds that are used for sports other than cricket. However, famous cricketers have termed the drop-in pitches in the Pakistani system as a waste of money.

Heat & Expected Rains, Arrival of Australian Expert in Pakistan & Drop-in Pitches Plan Delayed until 19th May 2022:
Rapturous welcome to Australia - with many hopes and aspirations for this special nation! The Sydney Morning Herald article from yesterday makes a lot more sense when read through: "Sydney is hopeful on Monday that the Indian Ocean region will continue at least partial dry weather patterns throughout 2017." Since then we've had some rain too. If you live or work in South East Asia (or Southeast Asia if you're outside) don't forget to take advantage as they were expecting significant rains here during January 7. We have 2 separate updates today regarding recent reports about potential severe flooding coming down south due along several rivers – including two main resources.

1. Heat & expected rains

The heatwave that hit Karachi recently has been a major concern for those who are involved in outdoor cultivation here. Experts predict that temperatures could exceed 45 degrees Celsius by end of May 2015, and rainfall might not reach normal levels till June. This can cause major issues like reduced bud density (due to less water), slow germination rates, and low yields. As we have seen in other parts of the world where temperatures have reached such high levels, growers were forced to reduce their output. However, it seems the industry has learnt from past mistakes and is trying its best to avoid such situations this time around.

2. Arrival of Australian expert in Pakistan

A leading figure from Australia's medicinal cannabis sector has arrived in Islamabad to introduce his state-of-the art technology and expertise to our local experts. Dr. Mark Zekulin, CEO of Cannimed Therapeutics, is visiting the country to help Pakistani medical practitioners gain access to first-rate medical marijuana treatments. He will be meeting with various government officials and relevant authorities at the Ministry of National Health Services and Regulations and the Ministry of Commerce while touring through Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Islamabad Capital Territory, Peshawar, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Quetta and Karachi.

3. Drop-in pitches plan delayed

The planned drop-in pitches at the International Cricket Stadium was postponed due to security reasons. The pitch used to host international cricket matches had to be abandoned by the ICC after a terrorist attack took place on March 24th 2015. The ICC has now arranged alternative venues to allow Pakistani players to participate in upcoming events.

I did my first pitch and thought it was good enough to write up here but then I had a sudden burst stomach (not the worst thing since you never know when your trip might include something strange), so there's been some confusion as that is actually what happened:

The big worry with this event really comes from all those reviews where people say how amazing their trips were! That means basically everyone wants to take turns on each part of the day until one person has done everything properly - which makes me worried about "losing confidence". But let us leave aside these complaints because once again we have several major cities like Karachi and Peshawar.

Curator Adelaide Oval, pitch consultant PCB Damien Ho will come to Pakistan for one month in June.
He will review the maintenance of drop in pitches during rains and report to PCB. He has already had an interaction with Karachi water management experts like Dr Zafar Shihabuddin who shared his expertise about it. A plan was ready which required consultation from both teams when they met over 12-15 days ago at Sir Samad Airport before departure here on 7th August 2014. The project cost is Rs 30,000 crore including RM4 million grant so we need a maximum of 50% as per government's target figure of 20%. Since he did not have any funding yet (after having been appointed) if everything went smoothly then some funds would be available through him after completion. When asked what kind or amount should I donate it.

1. Cricket curator, David Richardson said that he was delighted to have Mr. Ho visit Pakistan after his successful tour of Australia in December last year. He noted that this would be a great opportunity for cricket fans to gain from his experience. The curator said that he had been working hard to ensure that the surfaces were kept in the best condition possible during the long period of dry weather. He added that during the recent rainy season, the grounds staff did an excellent job keeping the surfaces safe and playable.

2. "We are looking forward to having him here," said PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf. "He has worked at two world class venues, Sydney's SCG and Melbourne's MCG, both of which have some of the finest pitches in the world. His knowledge should help us address certain issues relating to our limited resources," he concluded.
